A: Feline Urologic Syndrome and kidney failure have many causes. Sometimes high ash and magnesium content can trigger FUS related problems. Spot’s Stew canned for Cats has the lowest ash and magnesium content of any cat foods we know of. They are both under one-half percent. Spot’s Stew canned for Cats also contains a very high moisture content, which help support the kidneys, so your cat’s organs can function and eliminate waste properly.
A: So many pet owners report great success using our all natural VitaGlo Herbal Ear Wash. Use it for fourteen days, morning and night. It’s soothing and gentle and works for almost any problem ear condition. This product also helps with dirt, odors, earwax and even yeast infections. It keeps ears smelling fresh and soothes irritations in the ears. Make this product part of their regular hygiene to help prevent future ear problems.
A: Pets that eat potted plants or grass are not getting enough greens in their diet. Out in the wild, animals would consume fresh prey that could have eaten herbs, plants or berries. Your cat is a very good candidate for VitaGlo Daily Greens. This product provides him with healthy chloraphyllins, which should satisfy his green food nutritional needs.
A: While too much protein may help to lead to kidney issues, it alone is not the cause. There are many factors that play a role in developing kidney problems such as quality of the ingredients in the food, any added chemicals, etc. If a pet is on a food made up of low quality ingredients, the kidneys have to work much harder to break it down versus a food made of high quality ingredients that are easy to utilize and eliminate. Different protein sources can be easier to digest than others with chicken (whole chicken, not chicken by-products) being the easiest to break down.
We feel that a completely balanced meal is the best way to go for any pet. We use only the highest quality ingredients, and because of this, our Spot’s Stew is very easy to digest. For pets with kidney problems, we also recommend using our VitaGlo Daily Greens, which help to maintain the kidneys, as well as provide enzymes and antioxidants. From kittens to seniors, any age cat can eat Spot’s Stew. The main things to stay away from are foods containing by-products, fillers (like corn, wheat, rice, and potatoes) and chemicals. These low quality ingredients will only make the kidneys work harder, and they don’t really provide much nutrition for the pet.
A: Taurine is critical to your cat’s health! Without it, a cat can go blind. Taurine is found abundant in muscle meat. Spot’s Stew canned Wholesome Chicken Recipe contains wonderful amounts of chicken, turkey, and liver to provide your cat with taurine that’s easy to assimilate.
A: We would definitely recommend the Spot’s Stew. It is made with the highest quality, ingredients and real, wholesome food truly is the foundation to great health. Many health issues that pets have today tend to be related to the foods they are on since most pet foods on the market contain very low quality ingredients such as by-products, fillers (corn, wheat, rice, potatoes), and chemicals. In addition to the Spot’s Stew, we’d also recommend our VitaGlo Daily Greens and VitaGlo Xtra-C. Daily Greens is a complete multi-vitamin and mineral supplement. It provides a lot of green, leafy foods and berries, which support your pet’s urinary tract and kidneys. It also has enzymes and antioxidants. Xtra-C is a pure vitamin C powder that is not buffered with anything so it’s wonderful for pets with struvite to use. It really helps to support the immune system and it helps maintain the urinary tract as well.
Q: What’s the fat content of one can of your Spot’s Stew?
A: Fat content in Spot’s Stew for Dogs is 1.5%. As a reminder, Spot’s Stew for Dogs is the healthiest food on the planet for ANY dog. It is perfectly balanced for your dog’s optimal health and helps maintain your pet’s weight. We would also recommend examining other sources of food and treats you are using — you want to eliminate excess grains from the diet.
Q: What’s the sodium content of Spot’s Stew?
A: Sodium content in the Spot’s Stew canned for Dogs is considerably less than 1/2 of 1% — it’s quite low and perfectly healthy. There is never an issue with any nutrient in Spot’s Stew — it will always be the healthiest food for any pet.
Q: What is the shelf life of the natural pet care products you make?
A: The natural pet food supplements and vitamins are all packaged in amber bottles to help preserve the life of the products. Unopened, they have a two to three year shelf life, but we recommend refrigeration after opening. If they’re being used as recommended though, they should all be consumed within a few months. They can’t work for your pet unless you stay consistent and actually use them.
Spot’s Stew cans have a “best used by” date, but if stored in a moderately temperate area, it should last for about ten years. Canning is its own natural preservative.
The Liv-A-Littles have varied shelf lives and this gets a little confusing. The Chicken and Beef sealed are good for 3 years, and opened 3 months. The fish varieties, Cod and Salmon, are 1 year sealed and 1 month open.
Q: Is it okay for a small dog if he accidentally eats the “cat version” of the stew?
A: It is perfectly fine for a dog to eat the cat varieties of Spot’s Stew. In fact, we recommend our Spot’s Stew canned for cats varieties for dogs who have diabetes and other issues where they need to stay away from grains.
Q: How can I get my cat to switch to your healthy food?
A: So many cats are just “Creatures of Habit” and they like what you gave them yesterday. 70% of the cats really love Spot’s Stew on day one. 30% need a little assistance. The good news is that there has never been a single case of a cat starving itself to death, when food was present. You may have to be strong and “put your paw down” if you want to make the change to the healthiest food in the world, but it will definitely be worth it. Remember that Spot’s Stew has no flavor enhancers, like salt or sugar (which is found in most every other product). In addition, your cats might not be all that familiar with chunky meats and healthy vegetables. Once they make the switch, though, you’ll see better coats, dispositions, as well as maintenance of your pet's vitality and its digestive system.
Q: My cat doesn’t seem to ever drink any water since he’s switched to Spot’s Stew. Is that a problem?
A: Many people do notice a decrease in the amount of water intake with their pets after making the change to Spot’s Stew canned. The reason for this is that they are getting the hydration they need from the food itself. When a pet is on a food that does not have much moisture, they need to drink quite a bit more to try to keep their bodies hydrated. Unfortunately, they don’t always drink as much as they need which can lead to dry skin, dull coats, and excessive shedding among other issues.
Q: I was wondering how long Spot’s Stew lasts once opened and in the fridge?
A: Generally, about 3-4 days is fine in the fridge. You will normally go through the cans in about that time.
General Product Information
Q: Can all of your natural pet food supplements be used together or will I overload my pet?
A: Natural pet food supplements should be chosen for your pet’s individual nutritional needs. The vitamin supplements we promote work very well together and since they are all very unique and different, they will not overlap and harm your pet. You may use all the pet supplements at once, or chose the ones that fit your particular pet’s needs. We can help design a program that is just right for your pet — call or email us with your questions and we will help choose the products that are right for your pets.
Q: What is the shelf life of the natural pet grooming products you make?
A: All of the pet grooming supplies have an indefinite shelf life. Since they all contain herbal extracts, they can be used safely for many years. The extracts themselves are their own natural preservatives.
Q: Someone recommended Flax Seed Oil as a good supplement for my pet’s skin and coat. What do you suggest?
A: Any oil added to commercial pet food may produce some temporary beneficial results for your pet’s skin and coat, but we recommend VitaGlo Dream Coat for optimum health. Many people are under the false impression that Flax Oil is a good choice, but the reality is that Flax Oil only contains Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids. Many veterinary studies reveal that the best Essential Fatty Acids for dogs and cats come from a variety of sources, including Linoleic Acid, Oleic Acid and Gamma-Linolenic Acid as well as the Omegas 3 and 6 — all of which are found in Dream Coat. This is the only product we know of to provide a complete, full spectrum blend of essential fatty acids.
Q: Do you have anything for chronic eye discharge?
A: Many pets have chronic eye problems and the cause is generally two-fold. Some pets are bred to have "peke faces" and therefore have bent tear ducts. Debris can clog in the bend and the waste backs up in the tear duct, spills out on the face and produces ugly eye discharge. Try using the Cloud Nine Herbal Eye Wash, which opens up clogged tear ducts and cleans them out. This natural product is great for eliminating bacteria in the eyes, which can cause swelling and redness.
Q: Any suggestions for adding fiber to my dog food? I know my vet has stressed that she wants my dog on a low fat, high fiber food.
A: VitaGlo Vita-Mineral Mix is a great source of raw fiber! It also supports your pet’s digestive and muscular-skeletal systems, as well as maintain your pet’s stress level.
Q: Isn’t Tea Tree Oil poisonous to cats?
A: Both Cloud Nine Herbal Healing Salve and Cloud Nine Herbal Dip are completely safe for any pet. We don’t use anywhere near the amount of pure concentrated Tea Tree Oil that could cause toxicity in cats and our solutions are obviously diluted with other ingredients — in 20 years, we’ve never harmed a pet. Rest assured our products will only make your pets happier and healthier.
Q: Both my dog and cat have perpetually greasy coats. Even after I bathe them, they’re still somewhat oily.
A: Your pets are not emulsifying the fatty waste in their bodies. Use our VitaGlo Vita-Mineral Mix. It helps to push the waste out of the body through normal channels and not out onto the skin and coat. It’s also a sign that the food you’re using is not a high quality product. You could switch to Spot’s Stew to support your pet’s skin and coat.
Specific Products
Cloud Nine Herbal Healing Salve
Q: Where can I apply Cloud Nine Herbal Healing Salve?
A: Our Herbal Healing Salve is lick proof and stick proof, so it’s no problem near the mouth or on any part your dog can reach. It’s safe and even when licked would never harm your pet! Your dog won’t be able to lick it off. It will only work into the area better — and likely have even greater results.
Q: My dog likes to lick the Cloud Nine Herbal Healing Salve when I use it on his skin. Is this bad for him?
A: There is nothing in our product line that could hurt a pet. Actually licking the Salve is very soothing and will help it penetrate into the problem areas and make it more effective. Some people have said that their dog liked it so much that they even ate an entire jar when the owner wasn’t looking. Always keep your products in a safe place to avoid any unwanted situations. Accidentally eating even a whole jar could cause a little loose stool, but there shouldn’t be a problem.
VitaGlo Dream Coat
Q: How long does it take see a difference in my dog’s coat when using VitaGlo Dream Coat?
A: Depending on the size of dog and symptoms, you can notice changes and differences in a matter of days. For a larger dog, 100 pounds or more, expect 2 to 3 weeks. Also remember Dream Coat never stops working, so you should never stop using it. We believe every pet in the world should be using Dream Coat daily.
Q: I’m starting my animals on VitaGlo Dream Coat and I’m wondering if the serving suggestions on the bottle are for daily servings or should be given at each meal?
A: Dream Coat doses are based on each meal. With a nice pour each meal, they should be the perfect picture of great glowing health.
Q: Should VitaGlo Dream Coat be refrigerated after opening?
A: No, you do not HAVE to refrigerate Dream Coat once opened. We recommend you keep it out of direct sunlight and heat as heat can reduce the efficacy of the oils.
If you do decide to keep Dream Coat in the fridge and it gets a little cloudy, the oils can coalesce. Just take it out and place it on the counter for a few minutes before you need to use it. A quick stir later and all is well.
Remember, don’t stop using it and it won’t stop working! Dream Coat works wonders and really gives you and your dogs the coat of your/their dreams!
VitaGlo Vita-Mineral Mix
Q: Is the VitaGlo Vita-Mineral Mix to be used in wet food or only as part of a raw food diet?
A: Our Vita-Mineral Mix can be used with dry, wet, raw, or whatever kind of food. YOU MUST ADD WATER (or Spot’s Stew broth) to Vita-Mineral Mix before feeding it to your pets because it has yeast in it and needs to expand OUTSIDE a pet’s tummy, not inside. In addition, it supports your pet's digestive and muscular-skeletal system, as well as helps to maintain your pet's skin and coat.
The Vita-Mineral Mix is a raw pet food supplement meaning that it is not processed at any time and the ingredients are indeed raw. Just remember to add water before adding it to your pet’s food.
Q: I noticed you use Montmorillonite in your Vita-Mineral Mix. What is it?
A: Montmorillonite Clay is a wonderful source of trace minerals. It’s tasteless and odorless and provides all the same beneficial properties of kelp. It’s actually the seabed that kelp grows in, but dogs and cats don’t mind the taste. It absorbs easily and is very digestible.
VitaGlo Xtra-C
Q: Should I keep my VitaGlo Xtra-C in the fridge?
A: You don’t have to refrigerate the Xtra-C. Keep it in a cupboard at home. Just be sure to keep it stored in a cool, dry place.
Q: Can you overdose your pet on vitamin C?
A: Vitamin C is hard to overdose on because the body will flush out whatever it doesn’t need.
Q: I have been using Calcium Ascorbate and Sodium Ascorbate for many years as part of my pets’ supplementation. How does Xtra-C compare?
A: Both Calcium and Sodium Ascorbate provide some beneficial Vitamin C, but since they’re buffered — they are generally less potent than pure Ascorbic Acid. Calcium Ascorbate contains calcium, which could throw off the important calcium-phosphorous ratio in your pet’s system. No pet needs additional sodium in their diet, so we don’t recommend that either. Since Xtra-C is pure Ascorbic Acid, you are actually getting the most potent Vitamin C (5,000 mg. per tsp.) on the market today. Why provide your pets with a product that boasts fillers. To get your pet accustomed to this supplement, start by using half the recommended dosage for a few days until their bodies become used to it and gradually increase until the desired results are achieved.
Q: My cat just got over a bladder infection. I ordered some of your Xtra-C supplement. Do you think it will help?
A: Yes, Xtra-C will help maintain your pet’s good bladder health, as will our VitaGlo Daily Greens, and of course, a diet of our Spot’s Stew. If your cat is having recurring bladder infections, you should examine the food you are feeding. Grains make a cat’s body more alkaline, promoting a greater chance at bladder infections and urinary tract problems. Cats do not require grains in their diet at all.
Cloud Nine Herbal Dip
Q: Can you please tell me how much Cloud Nine Herbal Dip to use to make the herbal flea spray for pets?
A: Use 1/2 teaspoon with 16oz of water in the spray bottle! Enjoy!
Dinner Party
Q: Do you think your Dinner Party could be added safely to my dog’s food to increase her appetite?
A: Dinner Party would surely stimulate her appetite as well as aid in the digestion of the nutrients. We would also recommend our Spot’s Stew as it is the most optimal diet for any pet.
